In order to implement the spirit of the important speech of the Supreme Leader General Secretary on strengthening basic research and the spirit of a series of important instructions on China University of Science and Technology, and to implement the work arrangement of strengthening basic research of China Academy of Sciences, the school systematically planned and launched the "Rational and Practical Project" to comprehensively strengthen basic research in April this year. The meeting focused on how to further strengthen scientific research, combining the progress of "Rational and Practical Project" and the latest requirements and layout of the national and China Academy of Sciences in science and technology planning.

Cha Zhengjun, Minister of Scientific Research Department, gave a detailed report on the work progress in supporting high-level basic research talents, free exploration basic research, goal-oriented basic research, scientific research and innovation base, major scientific and technological infrastructure and creating a superior innovation environment since the launch of the "Reality Project".

Xue Yongquan, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Scientific Research, gave a detailed report on the work of seizing the commanding heights of science and technology, reorganizing national key laboratories, and reporting major scientific and technological projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

According to the situation of each hospital-level unit, the heads of each hospital-level unit held a heated discussion on further strengthening basic research and actively undertaking major national scientific and technological strategic tasks, and put forward many valuable opinions and suggestions.
