According to reports, the goal of the Xiangyang Vehicle Networking Pilot Area Construction Project (Smart Traffic Management) is to transform the intelligent facilities at intersections in the main city of Xiangyang, involving equipment including cameras, millimeter-wave radars, edge computing equipment, and intelligent signal acquisition equipment. After the transformation, the adaptive adjustment of intelligent signal control and centralized control of signal can be realized, and the mode of traffic management can be changed from "road command" to "one map" and "central control", which effectively improves the efficiency of traffic control and command of management departments.
Tencent’s unique pan-V2X capability has been used to open up roadside cameras, radars and other sensing devices, integrate edge computing and cloud computing platforms, and build an intelligent network connection management, operation and application platform, which has helped the construction of the intelligent network connection pilot area, realized the multi-scene fusion verification of intelligent network connection, and created a comprehensive test site with the leading testing capability of intelligent network connection in China.
In addition, through the construction of a real-time monitoring and quantification platform for traffic carbon emissions, Xiangyang’s carbon reduction will be "quantifiable and tradeable", which can monitor the carbon emissions of important intersections in the city in real time, build a citizen carbon point system, assist traffic management and encourage the public to travel green.

With the help of roadside cameras, radars, all-in-one cameras and other sensing devices, vulnerable traffic participants such as pedestrians and non-motor vehicles around the vehicle can be accurately identified, and the driver’s visual blind spots can be eliminated.
When there is a possible collision danger between the vehicle and the vulnerable traffic participants, the relevant information can be quickly pushed to the mobile phone, and the driver can be warned by voice, picture, pop-up window and other forms. "This can effectively avoid traffic violations such as retrograde, running red lights, ghost probes, and occupying motor vehicle lanes, thus further ensuring the traffic safety of pedestrians and drivers."
