Li Yuanmin: "Jamila" in the hearts of villagers

The word "Jamila" means warm-hearted in Uighur. Li Yuanmin, who mentioned "Jamila" in Gaimai Village, Yining County, Xinjiang, went up to the elderly and down to the children, and everyone knew him. How did a Han girl from Shandong come to Gaimai Village, Yining County, Xinjiang, win the respect of local people?

"Buy and buy, no one will come!" It used to be a widely circulated sentence in Yazi Town, Alakazam, Yining County, Xinjiang. Because it is poor here, the village "two committees" team is weak, the economic development is slow, and the people’s hearts are scattered. When Li Yuanmin took over as the deputy director of the village committee in 2010, the villagers were not optimistic.

Li Yuanmin started with a strong team, and recommended the formation of a team of village cadres through competition and assessment, so that young cadres with ideas and enthusiasm could take office. When she was on duty, she smashed the table where the cadres on duty drank and played cards, and successively retired a number of illegal village cadres. The incident of "smashing wine bottles" and her "violent temper" spread like wildfire.

To get rich, build roads first. Li Yuanmin led the villagers to build roads, and after several years of hard work, Gaimai Village, which was once messy and poor, gave new vitality. In July last year, a flood broke out in Jirigelang River in Yining County, Xinjiang, which destroyed the bridge where villagers traveled on both sides of the river. In order to grab the progress, Li Yuanmin led the village cadres to rush to the front line. Under the influence of Li Yuanmin, the villagers also participated in it and worked together to build the bridge.

Now, Gaimai Village has begun to develop courtyard economy, and the villagers have established cattle and chicken cooperatives, and the per capita income has increased from 6,500 yuan in 2010 to 12,400 yuan now.

Zheng Wentai, a 73-year-old Indonesian returned overseas Chinese, has invested hundreds of millions of RMB since 1992 to build a plant kingdom of 10,000 mu in Xinglong Overseas Chinese Farm in Wanning City, Hainan Province.

At that time, Zheng Wentai sold his assets one after another in exchange for hundreds of millions of yuan of "green cause" funds, while entering the mountains to find species, transplant and breed, and reclaim land for afforestation. At that time, it was the real estate development boom in Hainan. A successful overseas Chinese businessman changed into a gardener’s outfit and plunged into the barren hills, which made his relatives and friends unable to understand.

Zheng Wentai persisted, replanting from the foot of the mountain with low wind and strong drought resistance, attacking cities and pulling out villages, restoring the original ecological structure step by step, saving and preserving tropical rainforest species, and leaving a "tropical plant gene bank" for future generations.

Now Xinglong Tropical Garden has expanded to about 12,000 mu, and there are 65 species of rare and endangered plants. Many endemic tree species and rare and endangered plants, such as Cycas hainanensis, Alsophila spinulosa, Joan Brown, Dracaena hainanensis, Dalbergia odorifera, Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae Viride and Bambusa longifolia, were collected by Zheng Wentai from home and abroad after several twists and turns, and were transplanted into the garden. Xinglong Tropical Garden has become a tropical ecological garden integrating sightseeing, leisure and holiday, popular science education and other functions, and has been recognized by the state as one of the four environmental ecological demonstration education bases and a species gene bank.

Cui Jiuxiu: "Little Cui Guli" in the community

"Doing something meaningful" is Cui Jiuxiu’s dream.

At the age of 25, she is a member of the Party Committee of Tokzak Town, Shufu County, Xinjiang, and the first secretary of Saybagh Community. Cui Jiuxiu’s hometown is in Rizhao, Shandong Province. After graduating from college, she chose to work here. Now she can speak fluent Uighur, and the community residents affectionately call her "Little Cui Guli".

Four years ago, Cui Jiuxiu just graduated from college and came to Shufu County. At first, he was not used to language or eating habits.

In order to integrate into the new environment more quickly, Cui Jiuxiu first learned Uighur, and the communication was smooth. Community residents are willing to talk to her if they have any thoughts.

In 2015, several elder sisters in the community found Cui Jiuxiu and told her that she wanted to run a textile cooperative. Cui Jiuxiu went to the county to apply for sewing machines and spare houses for them, helped them to start a small clothing processing cooperative, and registered the clothing brand "Kashgar in Xinjiang". Now the cooperative has moved into a new factory, recruited more than 20 employees, and provided technical training for more than 50 women from low-income families.

In the community, Cui Jiuxiu also met a Uighur "mother", a 76-year-old Tuni sahan. The old man’s daughter is disabled and can’t work, and his wife is paralyzed in bed all the year round. Cui Jiuxiu helped the old man solve many practical difficulties.

"In fact, I didn’t do anything particularly big. I just helped her solve the small things within her power. I was very touched that they were so grateful to me. It is this kind of touch that brings me closer to the local residents. I understand a truth: only through little things can we get closer to the people of all ethnic groups. This is the most important feeling for me to do a good job at the grassroots level. " Cui Jiuxiu said.

Zhang Liming: Innovative Blue-collar "Maker"

He has been rooted in the front line of power emergency repair for 31 years, from a grass-roots power worker to an outstanding representative of "learning, knowledge-based and innovative" industrial workers in the new era. He is Zhang Liming, the "blue-collar craftsman" of Tianjin Binhai Power Supply Company of State Grid.

Zhang Liming is the squad leader of the distribution emergency repair class of Tianjin Binhai Power Supply Company of State Grid. He has worked for 31 years and has patrolled more than 80,000 kilometers. In the emergency repair of power supply failure caused by a heavy rainstorm, Zhang Liming led the emergency repair team, and 81 emergency repairs were completed overnight, which enabled many enterprises and residents to quickly resume power use.

In 2011, an innovation studio was established in Zhang Liming. Zhang Liming, who only has a secondary school education, led the workers’ team to realize more than 200 technological innovations, which translated into economic benefits of more than 100 million yuan. At the just-concluded Second World Intelligence Conference, he explained the live working robot invented by himself, which can replace manual work and carry out high-risk, high-intensity and high-altitude live working.

Zhang Liming is also the captain of the Dawn Communist party member Service Team, who is on call 24 hours a day, from installing energy-saving light bulbs to solving the problem of black corridors in old buildings to setting up a love fund to help the elderly, the sick and the disabled. Zhang Liming often said that volunteering, though not his job, is closely linked with the initial intention and mission of Communist party member.

Xu Wentao: The "Spiritual Long March" of the University Interpreter
