WHO supports China to change the statistical caliber of COVID-19 case data.

CCTV News:On the 21st local time, WHO held a press conference in Geneva to introduce the COVID-19 epidemic. At the meeting, WHO Director-General Tan Desai expressed his support for China’s change in the statistical caliber of COVID-19 case data, that is, to cancel the category of clinically diagnosed cases unique to Hubei Province and only keep confirmed and suspected cases. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus pointed out that this shows that Wuhan’s health system has recovered its ability to detect all suspected cases, so some clinically diagnosed cases that were once included in the confirmed cases are now subtracted from the confirmed cases due to negative tests. Brian De, Director of the Global Infectious Disease Hazard and Preparedness Department of WHO, said that what is more important than the data is the epidemic trend. As long as we can understand how the case data is counted, it will be conducive to making the best decision to protect people’s health.

At present, the WHO expert group is working in China, Beijing, Sichuan and Guangdong, and will go to Wuhan next. At the same time, WHO appointed six special envoys from COVID-19 to provide strategic advice on a global scale. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stressed that at present, the window for controlling the spread of the virus in the world is shrinking, and called on all countries to take measures to curb the epidemic.
