The wild Siberian tiger in Heilongjiang once again "outbursts" to tear off a leg of the ox.
Xinhuanet Harbin, June 29 (Reporter Liu Jingyang) The General Administration of Forest Industry of Heilongjiang Province announced on the evening of 29 th that the wild Siberian tiger that appeared in Huanan Forestry Bureau under the bureau attacked the local yellow cattle on the 19th and 21st, and broke into the home of forestry workers in the early morning of the 29th, tearing off a leg of the yellow cattle. In view of the frequent occurrence of wild Siberian tigers, the forestry department has issued an early warning to local residents, prompting them to be careful. At the same time, wildlife experts are rushing to Huanan Forestry Bureau to conduct a detailed investigation.
It is understood that around 0: 00 on the 29th, Che Shiguo, a resident of Yongqing Management Office of Huanan Forestry Bureau in Heilongjiang Province, suddenly heard the barking of dogs in the hospital and the painful cries of his own cattle in the middle of the night. Che Shiguo hurriedly went out, only to see a huge beast figure dragging the ox out of his own circle more than 50 meters away. Che Shiguo quickly returned to the house, took the iron basin and slammed it, finally scaring the beast away. Later, he found that his own ox’s left hind leg was torn off by wild animals and his back was scratched in many places. He immediately reported the case.
The staff of the Wildlife Protection Office of Huanan Forestry Bureau, together with the police of the Public Security Forest Protection Brigade, rushed to the scene of the incident. The footprints of wild animals discovered by Che Shiguo were highly similar to those left by wild Siberian tigers on the 19th and 21st, and were initially identified as the same wild Siberian tiger.
This wild Siberian tiger attacked the local yellow cattle twice on the 19th and 21st. This is the first time that the Siberian tiger has appeared in Huanan forest area in the past 19 years. This has at least narrowed the footprint of the wild Siberian tiger from the border area between China and Russia to the interior of China by 200 kilometers, which means that the tiger’s range of activities is expanding.
"This is also the first time that wild Siberian tigers have appeared in the western part of Wandashan in recent years." Sun Haiyi, deputy director of Heilongjiang Wildlife Research Institute, believes that this shows that the migration corridor of wild Siberian tigers has been initially established in the east and west of Wanda Mountain, and a new large-scale wild tiger habitat was born.
Wang Yulun, captain of the Forest Protection Brigade of Huanan Forestry Bureau, said that the local authorities have issued early warnings to various forest farms, and widely publicized the laws and regulations related to the protection of wild Siberian tigers and the common sense of self-help in distress by means of television, plates and leaflets. The police stepped up inspections to prevent poaching and overfishing personnel from entering the mountains, and stepped up efforts to remove wild boar sets and roe deer sets. On the afternoon of the 29th, the Forestry Bureau issued another urgent notice to further strengthen the protection and prevention of the Siberian tiger.
Zhang Shusen, director of the Wildlife Protection Department of the General Administration of Forest Industry in Heilongjiang Province, said that in recent years, timber harvesting in the forest industry areas in Heilongjiang Province has been greatly reduced and more than 180 forest sites have been evacuated. The emergence of more and more no-man’s land has obviously restored vegetation and wildlife, and only then can people "retreat" the tiger and "advance".
The Siberian tiger is one of the top ten endangered wild species in the world, with less than 500 left at present, mainly distributed in the Russian Far East and the northeastern forests of China. According to incomplete statistics, since 1989, there have been more than 30 sightings of wild Siberian tigers in Heilongjiang Province, and more than 400 sightings of wild Siberian tigers’ footprints, injuries to livestock, and the hearing of tigers’ roars.
